Some of the basic requirements for a successful pooja are :
1. Sandalwood paste
2. Kumkuma, Turmeric powder
3. Holy Ash
4. Camphor
5. Rosewater
6. An Arati lamp
7. An additional oil lamp & wicks
8. A Bell
9. 2 Conch shells & stands ( well packed to prevent breakage!)
10. Brass Statues (1 foot or less) of Ganesha, Krishna, and Devi - (with reasonable alternatives, both in terms of size and price)
11. A tray with a hole in it for the bathing of the statues
12. Small clothes and small mala beads for such statues, also a couple of other small mala beads to be used over framed photos of deitites or gurus
13. A few bowls, tumbler
15. 3 small trays or plates to place things like the pastes on, the oil lamp on, etc.
16. Plastic flowers for decoration
Obviously, plenty of incense sticks to please the Gods!
